Material

Material defines how your object looks. You use the Material component to define various material properties for your models and objects, like color, shininess, glowiness, bumpiness, etc. (These are not the technical terms for those properties, just descriptions.) You can easily change Material property settings or you can add a Texture. This is like a sticker that wraps your object to customize a specific property. In this tutorial, we experiment with all the Material component properties.

You’ll learn about:

  • Material component
  • Material properties
  • Textures

Prerequisites

Before you begin, you should have completed the following tasks and tutorials:

Step 1: Create a New Scene

From the Dashboard, create a scene from the Default Lighting template. This scene will come with a Camera, a Light, and a Skybox.

Step 2: Set up the Scene

  1. Open the new scene, and then choose Import Asset to open the asset library. Search for and then add the Mannequin entity to add it to your scene.
