Assigning textures

In this tutorial, we walk through the steps for using Textures in the Material component, using the Classic Shader, and changing property textures. Textures are typically images that wrap an entity to change its appearance. However, they can also act as maps that dictate how an entity reflects light and color.

You’ll learn about:

  • Textures
  • Materials

Prerequisites

Before you begin, you should have completed the following tasks and tutorials:

Create a New Scene

From the Dashboard, create a scene from the Default Lighting template. This scene will come with a Camera, a Light, and a Skysphere.

Step 1: Add an Asset with Material

We’ll add the Sofa that was used in the Create a TV Room tutorial.

  1. Choose Import Assets at the top of the interface to open the asset library.

  2. Search for and then add the “ASIN: B007HLZJ2E” asset, which looks like a sofa.
